A FRIGHTFULLY FROZEN ASHP SYSTEM

AS  EXPERTS IN FAULT FINDING AND REPAIRS OF MOST THINGS RENEWABLE, WE WERE INITIALLY CALLED OUT BY A LOCAL AGRICULTURAL SUPPLIER WHO HAD TWO LARGE MITSUBISHI ASHP THAT WERE CONSISTANTLY FREEZING ONCE THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE DROPPED BELOW THREE DEGREES.

 

 

The frozen units were naturally causing poor heating performance, persistent error messages and two frozen commercial ASHP's. A further frustration for our client was that the original installation company had lost any kind of interest in resolving the issue. Our client had also contact three of our competitors, all of whom had come to view the situation, turned around and quite literally legged it......

 

So, because we have faith in our ability to find a solution (or possibly a bit mad for taking on a project that nobody else seems to want to get involved in.... we rolled up our sleeves and got on with it.

 

  SO WHAT DID WE DO?.

Well, this turned out to be a SIX pronged approach:

 

1. On initial inspection we discovered plenty wrong with the original installation. We started by installing two flow meters

 

2. Monitored performance as the issue was very sporadic

 

3. Engaged with the Mitsubishi field services team to gain access to their in-house advanced monitoring equipment

 

4. Discovered 1 unit had a failed component part that restricted the flow of the refrigerant. This needed to be changed

 

5. The second unit has faulty controls stopping the protocols for performing the defrost cycle. These were fixed

 

6. Checked everything over again to ensure working well.

 

We see situations like this all the time now. Original installers not wanting to take on the maintenance and repair of their installations, competitors only advice seems to be to replace the unit. Very rarely is this the situation, we have saved many customers from making the same very costly mistake of simply replacing the system.
