8.5KW ECODAN ASHP INSTALLATION COMPLETE WITH NEW RADIATORS AND BESPOKE CYLINDER, NR IPSWICH, SUFFOLK

 BACKGROUND

 

We were contacted in May 2020 from a lovely couple based Nr Ipswich, Suffolk who lived in a 3 bed detached 1984 build house with cavity wall and loft insulation. They had a 10 year old typical gas fired combi boiler complete with a 36 year old radiator system plumbed using microbore. Knowing there was an issue with the boiler and the pipework, they wanted to spend time during lockdown investigating a greener solution which could also utilise their existing solar PV system.

 

 THE SOLUTION

 

Based on the information provided by our customer, we specified a 5KW Ecodan system with a 150L cylinder to meet all their heating and hot water needs. Using the EPC certificate lodged against the property we could also predict some realistic figures around the Renewable Heating Incentive.

 

Because of the lockdown in place at the time we took the decision not to visit the customer in person but to send them an online version of our quotation.

 

 FINE TUNING OUR SOLUTION

 

As soon as Boris Johnson agreed we could return to work and our customer was happy for us to carry out a full room by room heatloss calculation using our compliant COVID-19 WORKPLACE GUIDELINES we discovered that a 8.5KW Ecodan unit with a bespoke 200L cylinder would be more suitable. As always this is why it is so important to carry out the room by room survey and not just rely on whole house calculations of Architects plans to ensure accuracy and the design of the most suitably efficient system as possible.

 

We also suggested that all radiators and pipework should be replaced due to age, condition and type of pipework.

 

The installation was completed in 5 days by our Mitsubishi trained and approved engineer, our heating engineer and labourer.
