Beware of cold callers
Please be aware Solar PV mis-selling and cold calling is on the increase. The cold caller will tell you any combination of the following:
- Your installer has gone out of business
- They work for/with your installer
- They work on behalf of the Government/MCS/any other agencies
- You must have a safety check due to fire risk
- You must have an insurance policy
- Your inverter needs to be checked
- You need an upgrade and so on…the list is endless
Please ask them for the following information:
- Name and address of the company – can you find them via an online search and call them back? If not, they are not a legitimate company
- If you have arranged for them to come to your home, ask to see identification
- DO NOT sign anything or agree to anything on that day. They will try to scare you into immediate action. If you do sign up for anything, you do have the legal right to cancel within 7 days of signing
- Mention Trading Standards/Action Fraud and feel free to call us
